Welland's Canada Day a full day of activity, music and family fun!
Canada Day in Downtown Welland marking the sesquicentennial anniversary of Canadian Confederation offers a wealth of free family fun all day. The City of Welland and Welland Downtown BIA are excited to announce how Welland is going to Celebrate Canada’s 150th on Saturday July 1st, 2017.
Starting at noon we are celebrating a jam packed day of entertainment, food, fun and fireworks.
The Robert Wood Singers kick it off at noon (12:30-1:15 pm Show Mobile on King Street, National Anthem at noon) , and the very popular Children’s entertainers the Smudge Fundaes (1:30-2:30 pm Show Mobile on King Street). Then the Canada's 150th in Welland : North Welland BIA top 10 remaining acts in the Talent Showcase take the stage (2:30-5:30 pm Merritt Park Amphitheatre) where a winner will be crowned on Canada Day (6:45-7:15 pm Merritt Park Amphitheatre). Then grab your seats as The Madhatters open the night (7:30-8:15 pm Merritt Park Amphitheatre) for Canadian Rock Band The Kings (8:15-9:45 pm). Top off the night with the epic viewing of fireworks over Welland Bridge 13.
Merritt Park will be lots of laughs and fun with inflatables, crafts, Pop-Up in the park, face-painting, Scouts Canada Kub Kar RacingTrack and festive Canadian Cupcakes (1:00pm-6:00 pm). There will be plenty to eat Downtown choose from a variety of Food Trucks at the King Street Kitchen. Pop into the Welland Museum to check out Welland and Pelham a communities’ gifts of Heritage exhibit celebrating Canada’s 150th (10:00 am-8:00 pm) .
Have some Water fun on the Canal- The Welland Canoe Rentals are coming Downtown for the day. Paddle a canoe or kayak with a friend, take the family out for a pedal boat ride. Take a splash in the Canal with the new Wibit’s on the Water featuring Rodeo Splash and Ice Tower. (1:00-6:00 pm Welland Canal around the Floating Stage).
